Company Visit to KIC—2016 International Student Activities


November 11, 2016, 20 international students joined the company visit organized by the International Office of ACEM, visiting the Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) in Yangpu District, and meeting with young entrepreneurs there.

In the first part of the visit, students listened to the talk given by Mr. Kurt Wang, Business and Alliance Director from Shanghai Innovation Labs (Sinnolabs), also a senior expert in cross-border investment, M&A, business development and government relations. Mr. Kurt Wang introduced his diverse working experience in government office, foreign-owned business and multi-national enterprise, and some typical cases Sinnolabs solved as a growth accelerator in Shanghai for Belgian and European SMEs. Another invited speaker, Mr. Chenfei Mei, CEO of Stories Accelerator, Book-Writer of How to define accelerator: Secret behind innovation, shared his unique startup story and thoughts on entrepreneurship. During the Q&A session, students’ questions came one after another. Some topics like localization of foreign companies, entrepreneurship and employment in Shanghai, cross-border cooperation, cultural conflict and integration in multi-national enterprises even led to heated discussions.

In the second part, students were guided by KIC’s Director of Publicity for a tour in InnoSpace, an ultrashort-term incubation platform for cell-sized enterprises, where students got a chance to know in detail the services InnSpace provides and its feature as “incubation + investment” with the focus on Internet & mobile Internet. Students’ understanding for the business mode was also deepened by quality communications with young entrepreneurs who chose to start and get incubated their business there. 

Company visit serves as a part of the spectrum of activities the International Office of ACEM organizes to help international students establish a better understanding in China’s business reality and maintain their advantages in China’s job market. Other activities include career consultancy, career development workshop, internship remark service, and internship and job fair on a regular basis.
