25 international students from Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM) attended the Business Chinese Course offered by the International Office of ACEM this November and December. The course was designed for the international students who intend to use Chinese language in business settings.

The course included three sessions in total in every two week’s afternoons from 12:30 to 14:00. Ms. Harriet Luo, a veteran teacher with more than 10 years teaching experience in Business Chinese tailored the curriculum in accordance with students’ Chinese levels.

Focusing on improving Chinese speaking skills, the course laid out with dialogues from real business world and explained the most frequently used grammar in them. In the class, students were coached from vocabulary to dialogues, and were not only taught the most useful expressions in business conversations, but also the culture in the office environment.

The idea of Business Chinese Course was firstly mentioned by an MIB students at the Chat with Dean Event, where international students were invited to have an afternoon teatime with Dean Zhou Lin to talk about their life and study in ACEM. The wish to improve the Chinese level especially in business settings expressed by that student was generally echoed in the event. Therefore, after few months’ preparation, the International Office brought the possibility into reality, setting up the Business Chinese Course as another acclaimed program of International Students Activities.
