French Open Days 2016 in ACEM


  November 30, 2016, Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM), Shanghai Jiao Tong University joined hands with the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (CCI France Chine) to declare the commencement of French Open Days 2016. Over 300 guests attended the opening ceremony, including His Excellency Mr. Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, France Ambassador to China; Mr. Huang Zhen, Vice-President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Mr. Javier Gimeno, President of CCI France Chine & General Delegate of Saint-Gobain Asia Pacific; Mr. Wan Guohua, Associate Dean of ACEM, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Mr. Patrick Lecomte, Deputy Director of Centers of Excellence, ESSEC Business School, Asia Pacific.

         

  At the Opening Ceremony, Vice President Huang Zhen reviewed the shining record of cooperation between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and French top universities and institutions, emphasizing “it is the intellectual and scientific exchanges that empower the two nations’ close and enduring comprehensive strategic partnership, and the cooperation in higher education serves as an important source in this regard.”

  Ambassador Maurice Gourdault-Montagne said “China is an important partner for France. Our cooperation in trade, civil nuclear energy, aviation, finance, higher education and people-to-people exchange has continued to break new ground.” He also mentioned that there are 1,600 French companies in China, offering about 600,000 jobs; about 35,000 Chinese students are studying in France every year, which is expected to increase to 50,000 by 2020; and there are 100,000 students studying in Chinese in France. “Exchange of knowledge enables development and innovation, and challenge of globalization urges us to know better about ourselves and each other”.


  Bringing together over 500 participants including the leaders from Chinese and French Business, experts from Chinese and French top institutions, and young people seeking their career opportunities in French companies, the French Open Days is one of China’s biggest international job fairs and networking platforms this year. It serves as an exciting platform to promote exchanges, and provide a source of talents and intellectual support for the growth of bilateral relations.


  The two-day event features roundtable discussions, job fair, business conference and networking events. During the panel discussion titled “The Era of Women”, nine outstanding women shared their lean-in stories and the beliefs they held all their way pursuing success and happiness. The discussion was moderated by Ms. Amanda Galsworthy, CEO of Alto International, and spouse of the French Ambassador to China and Ms. Annick de Kermadec-Bentzmann, Honorary President of CCI France Chine, Vice-President of Alliance Française Shanghai. ACEM alumna Ms. Claire Chen, Chairwoman of CJCHT Group, talked about her career experience and her sense of responsibility to promote other women’s career development. She believes that “to be a woman, mercy is your sharpest weapon”.


  In the Roundtable Discussion “Cross-Border M&A: New Lands of Opportunities?” Prof. Wan Guohua, Associate Dean of ACEM, joined Prof. Patrick Lecomte, Deputy Director of Centers of Excellence, ESSEC Business School, Asia Pacific, and senior practitioners in business to discuss cross-border merging and acquisition between China and France, and was warmly received by the audience.


  During the Job Fair, more than 400 bilingual/multilingual candidates explored career opportunities from nearly 500 positions offered by 40 companies in five major Business Sectors, including well-known names such as Dior, Saint Gobain, Accor Hotels, Mazars, Michelin and Auchan.
