Recruitment for the First SJTU International Fun Games


In order to enrich the cultural life of our campus and after-school activities, to improve students’ health, to promote the communication among students from the global world and cultivate students’ ability of team work, Shanghai Jiao Tong University is going to held The First SJTU International Fun Games

III. How to sign up?
You have to organize a team. Each team should have their own NAME, LOGO and SLOGAN. The size of the team should be between 8 to 10. If you are the captain of your team, please click the URL (

Deadline: 4.16 
(Attention: Participants of grade one will gain extra scores in general education and practice by joining this activity.)


IV. General Rules
1. Please take SAFETY as the primary concern during the game.
2. Please follow the discipline in games and instructions from organizers, which is the fundamental requirement of ensuring safety.
3. Please make sure that you finish the game on your own and do not attend it on behalf of other contestants.
4. Please do not move the equipment for games in case of accidents.
5. If you are to watch the game, please avoid wandering in the competition area, in order not to affect other contestants’ game, and also for the sake of your safety.
6. Remember to take away your self-belongings and garbage when you leave.


V. Game Rules
For each game, the team which got the first place get 5 points, and the second and the third get 4 points, the fourth to the sixth get 3 points, the seventh to the ninth get 2 points and the tenth to the twelfth get 1 point.
After all games are over, the total score will be counted and all teams will be ranked based on their total score.
(1) Pitch Pot
Rules:Three groups will participate in the game at each round. Each group will be required to stand in a row and throw the arrows into the pot by turns. Each group has 8 arrows. After 30-second game, the group who pitch the greatest number of the arrows will be the final winner.
If the arrows are pitched out of the pot the working staff will have the responsibility to pick up them and return them to the group.
The thrower’s hands can’t be higher than 30 cm upon the desk.
(2) Ball-holding with backs
Rules: Before the match begins, six participants in a team are divided into two groups, three at both sides of the 50m-racetrack. Two of three are runners, and the remaining one holds a bucket in the hand. After the match begins, the two runners should move horizontally, with a basketball between their backs. The basketball cannot fall on the ground during the race, or the two runners should both dribble the ball for ten times and then continue the race. When reaching the other side of the track, one of the two runners should shoot the ball into the bucket, which is held by their teammate 5 meters away from them. If the ball goes in, the other group can start the race, repeating the same procedure. The total used time is the final score.
Note: Using hands to hold the ball is forbidden; Shooters can be changed during the game; the bucket-holders can move to cooperate their teammates, but they cannot move closer more than one meter; half of the teams will be promoted to the second round (according to the time used).
Final round: The shooting range is increased to eight meters.
(3) Flying disc
Rules: Get points by passing & throwing Frisbees into hoops that your pals hold. (The more the better!)
Scoring Rules
The players who throw the Frisbee cannot move when throwing. If the referees rule that the player has broken rules. His/her team must restart the game from the starting line.
If the Frisbee touches the ground before it is thrown into hoops, the player should go back to his/her starting point and pass the Frisbee again.
If the Frisbee is thrown or caught out-of-bounds, the team must restart the game from the starting line.
If the players cross the starting line when throwing the Frisbee, the team must restart the game from the starting line.
If the players leave the designated areas (including the last player) and disturb other teams, their ranking will slip to the bottom of our list.
Attention
The first player on the team should stand behind the starting line.
Players are free to move when not holding the Frisbees.
If the Frisbee is thrown out-of-bounds, the players should get it back by themselves.
One team can pass on only one Frisbee at one time.
Players holding the loops cannot go inside the area.
After finishing one term, the team should bring the Frisbee back to the starting line.
There are altogether three Frisbees per team.
Duration of the game is five minutes per team. Total scores will be checked and ranked after the game is finished.
If the two teams pass on the same number of Frisbees in the game, their scores will be ranked according to foul times. The fewer foul plays the team has, the higher they will be ranked.
If the foul times of the two teams are still the same, they will have an additional competition. The team that uses less time passing and throwing one Frisbee will win the game.


(4)Tug-of-War
Rules: Three parallel lines are painted on the field, of which the gap should be 2m.
A red stripe is tied to the tug-of-war string as a mark, to which a heavy stuff is hung. When the referee launches the signal of getting ready, the stripe should be vertical to the middle line. When the referee blows a whistle, the two teams pull the string. The team that pulls the stripe over their own boundary is the winner. When the stripe is pulled to the 2m boundary line, the match ends. (The referee will blow a whistle and waves his arms cross over his head.) There is no time limit. The match ends until one team wins.
