In order to increase interaction and enhance cooperation among students from the same state or district, SJTU intends to establish International Student Association (ISA) of different states (districts).

I.       The way of application
The organizer (or sponsor) of each ISA need an application form from the International Student Service Center (ISSC) (room B204, the new administrative building, Minhang Campus), on which writing down the constitution, the name list (including the names of the chairman, vice-chairman, the heads of departments, and all the members), and the contact information of the ISA. Materials like activity plans are also needed. The ISA of the certain state (district) is established after the approval by the ISSC.

II.     The requirement of membership
At least 10 members from the same country (district) are required for establishing an ISA, in which one chairman is needed, who is responsible for formulating the goal, activity, and development of the ISA; one or two vice-chairman are needed, who are responsible for assisting the chairman with activity-management and issue handling; and if it is necessary, the ISA can establish department like Study Department, Arts Department, Sports Department,Volunteer Department, Propaganda Department, and so on.

III.   The content of activities
Each ISA may: carry out relevant activities based on their national speciality and the art of the traditional Chinese culture, combining the students’ characteristic with interests and strengths of each state(district); offer the freshmen information index, provide the students fall behind with academic counseling, help students from all aspects, forming good atmosphere; interact with the ISU of STJU, other international students’ clubs, and Chinese students’ clubs, exploring new forms of activities, so as to build a bridge among the students and between the teachers and students.

IV.   The support from the school
The approved ISA will obtain 1000 RMB per year from ISSC for construction and activity-supporting expenditure. Each year an election will be hold among the ISAs, in which the evaluation index is as follows: membership coverage (the percentage of members in the international students of the state or district), the percentage of members’ getting dropping-out warning, the effect of activities (volunteer & service, culture & sports, safety &stabilization, study & learning), and so on. The ISA which outstands the election will receive awards as a prize or expenditure ranging from 1000 to 5000 RMB.
